Newcomer Introduction

Hi everyone,

Let's start off by introducing myself. My name is Carly and for the moment, I am completely new to blogging. It's been something I've wanted to do for a while now, but I've never really known much about it. I plan to blog about my interests. Mostly to do with make up, beauty and crafts, but I'll probably throw in the occasional random life update.

So now I'll tell you a little about myself. I'm an Australian citizen, 19 years old and female. I finished college last year and I'm now just taking some time to decide what I want to do with my life. I've always loved reading and free writing, so I've decided to start this blog to help me get creative.

While we're on the topic of interests, let's get more acquainted. I'm a vegetarian and I support animal rights where I can. I rarely have dairy products and I only eat eggs that are free range (I usually purchase a local brand that gives their chickens 6 square metres of open space each!). So I try to avoid supporting the horrible conditions of the animals involved in factory produced meat and dairy products. I also don't support any cosmetic brands that test on animals (please forgive me if I ever purchase or review a product that is tested on animals - sometimes it is hard to keep track). So while I'm not exactly an 'animal activist', I do what I can in everyday life to support the ethical treatment of animals.

I'm also a big muso. Not in the way that I listen to indie bands and wear lots of knitted cardigans, but I had piano lessons for 11 years since the age of 5. I actually used to hate the piano, but I've really grown to love it. I am also a vocalist, though I only ever did 1 year of lessons. I used to think the lessons were pointless (hence why I stopped) but I've come to realise that they actually helped me so much with my confidence. I did a lot of public performing in high school and college, and I don' think I ever would have been confident enough if I hadn't done the lessons. I don't regret quitting though.

Arts and crafts have always been a big interest of mine. I was probably about 8 years old the first time that I used a sewing machine. My mum has always been really great at sewing (always making my sisters and I handmade bits and pieces - I'm so lucky), so naturally I followed in her footsteps. My dad is also very creative (I guess I get my craft flair from both sides of the family) though his craft is much different to my mum's. He's a wood turner, an extremely talented one, at that. I also enjoy drawing and painting - art was my favourite subject at school after music).

So that's about it for now. While I'm still new at this, my posts will probably be terrible until I figure out the basics. I really hope to be able to work out how to put these together nicely and create a neat, presentable blog, but until then I apologise for these monstrosities.

Stay peachy!
~Carly
